If your kids are anything like mine, they’re wrapping up everything in sight for the people they love…even little scraps of paper they’ve fashioned into presents.
And…
If you are anything like me, you’re looking for a craft to keep the kids busy this first week of winter break.
Here are 2 crafts that will keep your kids entertained and they can put ON or UNDER the tree.
Plus, they’re cute as a button…pun intended.
A note about buttons…If you haven’t been saving buttons all of these years, have no fear, you can buy buttons by the tube or bag at most big box craft stores!
You will need…
-
craft sticks (any size, we used mini sticks)
-
white, cream, and tan buttons
-
white or cream ribbon
-
white paint (optional)
-
heavy duty glue (I used Liquid Fusion.)
To make this craft…
Step 1; Glue the craft sticks together into a snowflake shape. We made 2 “x” shapes to create a snowflake. Don’t forget to let it dry!
Step 2: (Optional) Paint craft sticks. We painted our sticks white but I think it would look very cute in red, silver, or gold! At the craft store, they do sell colored craft sticks…this could save you a headache if you’re working with little kids!
Step 3: Glue on the buttons.
Step 4: When the glue is dry, add a loop of ribbon to the back of the snowflake so that it can be hung on the tree.
…and while you have the buttons out, make another ornament that’s just as cute & easy!
You will need…
-
buttons
-
pipe cleaner…any color
-
ribbon
To make this craft…
Step 1: Thread buttons onto the pipe cleaner. It doesn’t matter what color your pipe cleaner is because (I promise) it won’t show. You could use string but the GREAT thing about using the pipe cleaner is that the buttons won’t slide off even if your little one picks it up! See…
Step 2: Twist it into the shape of a wreathe and cut off the extra pipe cleaner.
Step 3: Use ribbon to tie on a bow and a loop so that it can be hung on the tree.
Enjoy!

Oh, sweet
Love the button one!
Thanks for visiting our blog – my girls are 4 and 3 and they made the ornaments at our Sunday storytime with help from older girls (10, 12 year olds)
