I don’t know about you, but I’m excited to see January draw to a close.
It seems like the month drags on for-ever!
And, I love Febuary!
VALENTINE’S DAY!!!
Doing holiday crafts with my boys is one of my favorite things to do.
Especially Valentine’s Day crafts.
I love that you can set them loose and let their imaginations take over.
I thought it would also be a great time to pull out our scraps and use those up.
So, here’s what I pulled out of the craft bin:
I started by letting the boys cut out a large heart from scrap book paper.

Loop Scissors for my little one help him concentrate on the "thumbs-up" grasp and the "helper hand."
Then….
…came the real fun!
We decided to have some fun with the Valentine Person body.
Both boys wanted to color them in, but didn’t want to just use crayons or markers.
So, I pulled out some shaving cream, Elmer’s glue and food coloring.

We mixed equal parts shaving cream and glue. Then, a few drops of food coloring.
This mixture is a lot of fun. I actually learned about it from my youngest’s preschool teacher. You can do just about anything with this mixture. Leave out the coloring and make a white snow scene. Do a few colors and paint an entire scene with it. Paint with brushes or fingers….its completely your discretion. The sky is the limit! Have fun!

The boys had a great time fluffing up their Valentine People.

Then, we took circles cut out of scrap paper and placed it on the “fluff” for eyes, noses and mouths.
If you’re going to go with glitter, now is a great time to apply it while the fluff is still wet.
Lay the Valentine Person flat to dry
(this will take 24-48 hours – depending on how thick the fluff is)
Once dry, display with pride.
Or, feel free to give it as a Valentine.

This is so cute. I have never seen that “mixture” Shaving cream is on the list!
LOVE this idea for finger paint..can’t wait to try this with my kids!
As always…thanks for the great ideas Sandy! ~Megan
De-Light-Ful! Where do you come up with these? I will need to get some shaving cream before the blizzard hits. Snow-day, schmo-day, we will have some fun at our house!
Now Im not a big gushy-mushy valentines person but there is a part of the day that I remember with great fondness As a child I LOVED waking up to find some special surprise outside my door usually a heart shaped box of chocolates with some fun character on the front .
