Elaborate Scenes at Disney On Ice

We are just in from Disney On Ice: Princess Wishes at the Van Andel Arena.

I must confess that this was my first ever Disney On Ice experience.  I don’t know who was more excited, me or my almost 4-year old.  After getting fully dressed in Princess garb and accessories, we were ready to set off to the 7pm show.

The show began with Minnie and Mickey Mouse setting the stage.  Princess Wishes covers the basic story lines of some of the favorite Disney princesses and showcases how their wishes came true, complete with music you’ll recognize and want to sing along with.

Minnie helps introduce the show.

My little girl was mesmerized by the many different princesses in the show.  We particularly enjoyed Ariel’s underwater scene and the bubbles that flooded the arena.  The dragon scene from the Sleeping Beauty vignette had amazing special effects…with the dragon breathing fire onto the ice.  It was a bit scary for my little person, though.

Be Our Guest!

All in all we were at the arena from 6:30pm to 9pm.  The actual show is 2 hours long with an intermission where you’ll be offered light-up trinkets, cotton candy, and other items.

Cinderella is greeted by her prince!

In a nutshell:

  • Quality show lives up to the Disney name.
  • Dress up as much as you want.  We saw head-to-toe princesses with wands and others just wearing a tiara.
  • Be prepared for typical waits: Lines to get in, lines to be seated, lines for the bathroom, waiting in the parking ramp to get out.
  • Bring your camera- there are lots of memories to capture.

There are still tickets available through ticketmaster.com if you want to go.

The show is in town through Sunday, with shows each day until then.

Have a magical time!
