Congrats to Rachel, winner of the tutu bow holder!
How often do you give your child a friends-invited birthday party?
Each family will answer that question differently. How many kids do you have? What’s your budget? How much energy do you have? How old are the kids?
For our family, we’ve decided on a yearly rotation between our 3 kids. Once a year, a different child will get a special friends-invited birthday party. It’s my daughter’s turn this year, and she is beyond excited to have her friends come celebrate her 4th birthday as a bunch of little princesses.
Even more fun is that Jennifer’s daughter (Jennifer is one of our blog contributors) has a birthday the same month as my daughter…so we are combining forces and throwing a double princess party!
Corey of Princess Pretties is working with us on the party. As the party planning progresses, we thought it would be fun to have you along and “help” us with some of the decisions. And of course, you will be able to win some of Corey’s lovely products along the way, as well.
We hope that you will gain insight into what it’s like to work with Princess Pretties and generally be birthday inspired!

First Details
The first step is creating the invitation.
1. Day
2. Time (the party last 2 hours)
3. Address (will we be doing the party at your home, the other birthday girl’s home, or a different space?)
4. The correct spelling for the girls’ names (are they both turning 4?)
5. RSVP information.

- Princess Prettys offers free optional RSVP service (through email or phone). We take care of the mailing, and give a reminder call the week before to any one who has not RSVP’ed.
- Some people would rather deal with their own guest list. If this is the case, Princess Pretties would only need the details of your RSVP info (your phone number or email or both)
Initial Party Decisions
- Choose a theme.
- Monster trucks, Hawaiian Luau, Tea Parties, Princesses and More, Princess Pretties has a huge variety of themes for you to choose from.
- Discuss options that require advanced planning.
- Decide…would we like the Rent-a-Princesses to visit? A Cinderella look-a-like would come for the second half of the party, read a princess story, take photos, and join in the games. It is a $50 upcharge to the regular party packages.
- Would we like a professional photographer at the party?
Would you have the Rent-a-Princess come to a party of 4 year olds?
Let us know your thoughts by leaving a comment on this post and you could win this Tutu-Tutu Bow Holder!
This is how Corey describes the Tutu Bow Holders:
Tutu bow holders are a decorative way to organize hair bows. Ribbons wrapped around the bodice and and hanging from the tutu skirt give plenty of space to attach bows and clips. Each detail is fully customizable, so you can order one to perfectly match your princess’s bedroom decor.
Tutu bow holders retail for $30 and can be purchased at the children’s boutique Gumballs and Overalls, located at 120 Courtland Drive in downtown Rockford. You can also purchase these at any Princess Prettys event.
Rules:
- One entry per person, please.
- Must leave a comment on this blog post answering the question.
- Must be able to pick up prize within 20 mile radius of downtown Grand Rapids…I don’t want to ship this large item.
- Contest closes April 4, 2011.

I think a rent a princess is a great thing for 4 year olds! Much better than a scary clown
For only $50, I think it would be a steal!!! And because there are two of you, think about it as only $25/girl!!! They will feel SO special! Great idea in my book!
Lisa
My little princess is turning 3 in May and wants a princess party!! She would LOVE to have a Princess show up at her party!! SO Yes, Rent-a-Princess is something we would look into having at her party!!!
I would have the Rent -A- Princess at the birthday party of a four year old. They are at that age where it is “magical” and they would just be enthrolled with it. They would love to their favorite princess read to them and interact with them. It would also be in a familiar setting to help reduce the “scary” factor that can come with visiting someplace where a character meeting is overwhelming to them.
For sure! Any little girl would love for a princess to attend her party! Sounds like you ladies will be having a great time!
I think 4 years is a great time for a Princess Party. They are still in the “Believe everything” stage. Oh how magical. My GD is only 31/2 but I think I will
discuss this with Mom and see
she thinks about it.
I think the Rent-A-Princess would be fabulous! I wished I had seen this information before my daughter’s party (let’s hope she’s still into princesses next year). I will definitely keep Princess Pretties in my contact list.
I would upgrade to the rent a princess. It sounds like the perfect end to a fabulous party! I also believe that we never regret the “extras” we do for our kids, but I’ve often regretted NOT doing the “extras”.
I think you should have the princess come!! You will split the cost which makes it so worth it and neither of them will forget it!! What fun!! Have a great time!!
This whole concept seems cute and fun for a little older group of children. I think that a four year old could very easily become overwhelmed. I can’t imagine 8 little girls vying to be a princess without some major melt downs. I think things need to be scaled back for a four year old and the two hour time frame. Maybe less guests, one less game, have one of the dads be a prince to read a story. Gives these little ones some time to enjoy themselves and develop their social skills without time constraint and overly planned activities.
It certainly would be a memory maker for a 4 year old hard to forget a party like this. All other parties will fade but when she grows up this is the party she will recall. I think it is an awesome idea kind of like having Disney come to you. Sounds like a ton of fun.
I would not I think I would wait until they are 6 or older. I think maybe they might remember it more that way.
If it was included in the package or no extra expense, I definitely would. However, getting a friend to dress up and read the stories and entertain the kids could also be an economical approach. Have fun!
I think having a “real princess” come to your party at that age would be very memorable! My oldest is 5 and if I knew something like that was available I would have considered it for her last birthday
Sounds exciting!
My daughter just turned 5 & I would have definitely done it for her this year as well as last year! Pretty cool!
I would definitely have a “real” princess for my little girl’s birthday party. What a wonderful way to celebrate her special day! It reminds me of the episode on Modern Family where they had a princess party for baby Lilly. Even though the parents were acting crazy, the girls had a wonderful magical time.
We would LOVE to rent a princess for a party sometime. What 4-year-old girl doesn’t love a princess?
I would do the rent-a-princess for sure! At 4 the magic of a princess is in full bloom and I think that having Cinderella at the party would make it perfect for the girls!
