July 30 & 31.

10am – 5pm Saturday and noon – 5 pm Sunday…

Boulder Ridge Wild Animal Park’s Grand Opening!

Mark it down, folks.

All of your patience has finally paid off!  Boulder Ridge Wild Animal Park will open to the public and you will finally get to see for yourselves what all the buzz has been about!  Plus, you’ll be treated to free cotton candy, popcorn and more!

We visited (along with Jen and Katie of the grkids family…read Jen’s take on our trip here) 2 weeks ago and met a flurry of final construction and one of the coolest collections of animals you’re going to find in North America.  Come prepared to learn about animals most people have only heard about…

New animals to discover around every corner!

Did you know that an ostrich's knees bend backward?

While you are visiting, be sure to catch a glimpse of “Rick the Reptile Guy.”  His passion and enthusiasm for reptiles is out of control- and contagious.  He’s also very proud that every animal at Boulder Ridge has a job- and therefore a purpose.  For most of the animals, their job is to reproduce.  The offspring is sold – creating income for the park.  But if you’re a  grass-eating animal, your Boulder Ridge job could be mowing…that happens here, too!

When we visited there were 4 expectant zebras!

Yup, they have zebras!

The park is divided into 2 main sections- the walk about part and the wagon-ride part.

Walking- you will see the reptiles while walking on wide, handicap accessible sidewalks.  There’s an aviary and petting zoo with baby animals, too.  But you won’t find ramps, stairs or barriers to hold back patrons on wheels here!  Restrooms were designed with the multiple-child family in mind and is situated close to the eating pavilion and play area.

What You'll Find at Boulder Ridge Wild Animal Park

The wagon ride takes you through on 80 acres of exotic animals.  From wildebeest to water buffalo and addax, this is a collection of astounding proportions.

Wildebeest!

If you’re still not enticed to come visit, maybe you’re not that into animals.  Or maybe you need just one more incentive…which I have for you!  To help celebrate Boulder Ridge’s Grand Opening, grkids.com will be there on Saturday and we will be giving FREE PERKS cards to the first 50 local families that visit.  One per family, while supplies last.  Must live in the greater Grand Rapids region.

Come on out- we’d love to see you there!

Boulder Ridge is on facebook.

I’m not sure what their admission prices are. I do know that they are not associated with John Ball Zoo. I heard that they will be offering memberships, but I think they are still working out the pricing.
