We are growing a little patch of paper pumpkins growing at our house.  (Yes, I am a fan of alliteration!)  They’re a super cute and cheap way for little people to create a fall craft.  Here’s what you need to make your own…

Simple and Cheap Supply List:

scissors

hole punch
green & orange construction paper
brass brads [fasteners]

To begin, cut the orange paper into 1 ” strips.  No need for perfection here!  You can cut length wise for a large pumpkin or across the paper’s width for a smaller pumpkin.

You can cut several pages at once.

Next, punch holes at each end of the strips.

A fun job for preschoolers!

Thread each hole onto a brass brad.  Be sure to have the fastener pointing to the inside of the pumpkin.  Secure the papers by opening the fastener.  Repeat for the opposite side. Then, spread the papers to form a pumpkin shape.

Point fasteners towards the inside of the pumpkin.

Lastly, cut your green paper into tiny vines.  You can wind the skinny strips around your finger or a pencil to help them curl!  attach them to your pumpkin by either wedging it in between the paper and the brass brad or use a piece of tape.

The paper pumpkin.

And there you have it…the perfect little pumpkin!
