I’ve been trying to find a way to re-purpose Crystal Light containers for awhile…and I think I finally found a great way to use these sturdy little containers.
We decided to turn ours into Art Containers. My kids are storing their markers in them. I love it because the containers are small, durable and portable. And since they are cute, I don’t mind them sitting out on a shelf for all the world to see. That’s a plus in our house, because my kids are Picaso’s-in-the-making and craft or do art at every opportunity {I know I am not alone here!}
To make your own, here is what you will need:
- Plastic Crystal Light container with label removed
- Scrapbook paper
- stickers or other embellishments
- foam brush
- Mod Podge
- Paper Cutter
This was a craft that my kids helped out a lot on, but before we started I spent some time cutting the paper. Ideally, you want the paper to wrap around the container completely without having any overhang on the top or bottom.
Once your supplies are gathered, protect your surfaces with newspapers or an old tablecloth and call the kids. {The kids we did this craft with were 4, 5 and 7.}
We put the Mod Podge on paper plates and let them have a blast ‘painting’ the Crystal Light containers. sticking one hand inside while the other hand operated the brush worked nicely.
After the glue was sufficiently spread, I added a bit more to the dried out areas and quickly added the scrapbook paper.
The kids then picked out stickers and applied those.
Then it was back to the brush. More Mod Podge!
We finished the containers off by gluing ribbon around the top and filling it with markers. What other uses can you think of for these cute containers?

They make great snack containers, too! Or for small games & puzzles. I use them on car trips & in the camper!
