Wizard of Oz Ticket GiveAway!

November 28, 2011

This contest is closed.  Congrats to our winner, Alison DeKok!

It’s not too often that we find a story that spans the generations, but that is exactly what we have with the Civic Theatre’s Holiday Production of the Wizard of Oz.  This is such a fun event for mom and dad and the kids as well as grandma and grandpa!

When I checked last week, many shows were sold out or close to sold out, so get your tickets now if you want a piece of this classic.  We got our tickets last week for this upcoming Saturday and you’ll find us in the balcony off to the side because those were the best seats left!

My kids are especially excited to see the show because some of the munchkins are just 6 years old.

This family musical runs through December 18, 2012 with matinees at 2pm and evening curtain calls at 7:30pm.

Tickets range from $16 to $30 and you can find more information here.

And if you want to win your way to Oz, enter our giveaway for a family [4] pack of ticket vouchers.

To enter to win leave a comment below telling us what item ‘brings you home.’  [For Dorothy, it was her red shoes.  For you, what item invokes nostalgia or a sense of home?]

Contest ends on December 5, 2012.  A winner will be chosen by random and notified via email.  Winners are also posted on the blog post after announcement.

*All opinions are my own.  No purchase necessary to enter the contest.  Leaving a comment on this blog post is not a requirement of entry. What brings me a sense of “home”, the warm fuzzies, is when my husband, children, and I sit by the fireplace and watch Christmas movies like Santa Clause is coming to town, and The year with out Santa Clause. What brings me home is my family! I have no family living in Grand Rapids and I often miss out on the day to day things with my parents, siblings, nieces and nephews. • Chris says:

What brings me home is to the play at the Civic every Christmas with my mother and grandmother. We would go out to eat at Hong Kong Inn and then walk down the decorated streets to The Civic. We did this every year until my grandmother was to sick to go. Now I take my daughter, one of her friends and we go to a play with my mom. Continuing the tradition. However, now we go to Bentham’s in the Amway since Hong Kong is no longer there. We just all dressed up. Great tradition to pass on in our family. It would be great to win these tickets because my husband is laid off and we do not have the money to buy the tickets this year.

The thing that says home theist to me is family tradition. One of my favorite Christmas traditions is going to Midnight Mass with my family (we fell asleep when we were kids) then going back to Mom’s house for Aunt Dee’s famous coffeecake. Finally, we help mom wrap gifts for the grand kids until the wee hours in the morning until we return home to wake up and celebrate Christmas morning with our own children.
