You’re not too late.  A second Animal Adventure is scheduled for February 6, from 6 – 7:30 pm.  Reservations required.   Call Meijer Gardens at 616-974-5239 or John Ball Zoo at 616-336-4310 to register.  Reservation deadline for this event is the Thursday prior (February 2). FEE: $5 members, $7 non-members (Ages 3 and up).

My family and I  just returned from Animal Adventures: Growing Up Wild and we’re all a-buzz with what we’ve seen, done, and even touched!  I personally loved watching my kids explore the conservatory using their flashlights to find hidden (rubber) snakes and frogs.  The conservatory felt extra mysterious and exiting in the dark.

Meijer Gardens and John Ball Zoo have packed this evening with plenty of  fantastic activities perfect for preschoolers and young elementary students.  My kids loved camouflaging a paper python, creating their very own  Horned Frog, and experimenting with Chinchilla like ears.   What they probably didn’t realize was that the staff members working with them were packing their little heads with all kinds of animal facts!

After spending an amazing hour touring 10 different stations, we were excited to experience the animal presentations.  If you’re imaging a large crowd where you have to weasel your way up to the front think again.  The large group was divided into 4 small groups.  This gave each family an up close view of each animal.  Kids (and parents) wre able to touch most animals and ask any question they could possibly think of! Grand Rapids Meijer Gardens and John Ball Zoo Animal Adventures for grkids.com
