Cash Mobs.  The latest incarnation of the flash mob, these are starting to pop up where locals are interested in investing in their community.  I love the idea.  Getting people back into local stores helps our community on so many levels.  If you’ve never heard of a cash mob, it’s where a group of shoppers agree to go “mob” a local business on a certain day and time and commit to spending $20 during their trip.  Here’s a piece that PRI did on cash mobs…give it a listen.

The success of a cash mob doesn’t just hinge on the amount of dollars the group spends.  Introducing people to a new local business is another lasting benefit of participation.

So…the first decision we need to make is WHERE.

Please leave a comment telling us where you think our Mom Cash Mob should go and why.

Keep in mind that the business must be:
1- locally owned
2- big enough to accommodate 20 shoppers at one time
3- child & stroller friendly

If you are commenting via facebook, leave your email if you would like to be informed of when and where the cash mob will be taking place.

Springrove Variety Store at 310 South Lafayette (M91)in Greenville,Michigan 48838 should be cash mobbed. Greenville has had a hard economic ride the last few years, and it would be a great moral boost to the community. Springrove is an adorable old fashioned looking variety store with friendly workers, and lots of merchandise that appeals to all ages. They have crafting items, an old fashioned candy counter, lots of board games and toys for kids and grownups. Springrove would be a fun place for mobbing.
